I’ve blogged many times about how much I love creating art with photography. I am an amateur myself, but I have a decent camera and have been able to get some nice shots of various events, vacations and my kids. But really my strength on a photo shoot is in the makeup and styling – that is where I am most comfortable. Lighting and reflectors and all of that, I just don’t understand, and I have worked enough times at Langara College doing makeup for the Photography department, that I know it’s very complex.
Michelle Horsman is a Fraser Valley Photographer that I have known for quite a few years. She is originally from England and has been in Canada ever since she met and married her husband. We had done some work together quite a few years back, but then she had two babies in close succession and like most mothers, got very busy! Of course, we have always stayed in contact via Facebook, and this summer I helped her with a Social Media plan for her business. I couldn’t resist booking her for some photos of my daughters! We have oodles of dance costumes and so Michelle and I started brainstorming with Pinterest and came up with some ideas to experiment with. I feel like Michelle and I share the same creative mind, but her attention to style and detail is very evolved, which is why it is such a treat to work with her.
I love these edits, which are so dark and smoky, but even more, I love the lighter edits and her ability to do both. I mean, like any mother, I love to brag about my kids, but Michelle made them look like Supermodels! If you go through her Portfolio HERE, you will see that she does this with ALL of her clients, from teenagers to women over 50.
Michelle does beautiful portrait sessions. If you contact her via email or Facebook and mention the word Scarlett she will send you a gift voucher for $150 off a folio collection or 10% off a digital collection. Treat yourself! You deserve to look and feel beautiful.
We had a lot of fun shooting together and trying different things. Michelle was very patient with my 15 year old daughter, her crazy music selections and then later on in the day, her inability to listen to directions! I will be posting a a bit more about the shoot later this month (since I am blogging every day for 31, well make that 32 days in a row!).
