This year the very popular West Coast Women’s Show happening October 21, 22 & 23rd 2016 at Tradex in Abbotsford is bringing in some Fraser Valley Entrepreneurs to the main stage. In addition to all of the vendors, fashion shows, Girls Night Out with the Firefighters Fashion Show, cooking demos and more, this year the Sunday main stage will be a panel discussion featuring 4 Fraser Valley female entrepreneurs, talking about their successes, rise to social media stardom and balancing their growing businesses with family life.
Amanda Penner is the owner of Minimoc, and part of the husband and wife team that run the business. She first made the soft-soled shoes as gifts, and a business was born. As of today the company has over 250 retailers carrying their shoes, and over 34K Instagram followers!
I’ve been following Arrow & Lace Designs online for awhile, because I love the vintage designed styles, and the company’s branding! Laura Derksen, the owner, started like a lot of women do, making hair accessories for her daughter, and then it gradually grew into a business. I can’t wait to hear how Laura bridged from a hobby to an income-generating venture. You can also purchase her products at her booth at the show.
Many working women with kids at home have the dream of making it big as a entrepreneur. When my own kids were small and I was working full-time for someone else, it seemed like every self-employed woman that I knew had a better gig than I did. I wanted flexibility too but I learned, that while entrepreneurship can be flexible, there are still plenty of hours involved! I know that working solo can seem like it is the only way to go when you are sitting at a desk somewhere slogging away for someone else, however there are plenty of ways to find that flexibility, and yet still have enough time for family.
Lorene Mah, the owner of Glitter and Spice and Karen Johnson of K’pure Natural Body Care will be rounding out the panel on the mainstage at the show, and both of their products will be available to buy as well. Make note to check out what will be an enlightening panel discussion on Sunday October 23rd at 12:30pm.
Show entry tickets are available online now (save $2) and at London Drugs locations, and will also be available at the door. I will be giving away 2 tickets to the show via Rafflecopter. Use the entry below from now, Sunday October 17th until Wednesday October 19th at 11:59pm! Good luck!
