I have always tried to only share or review products that I truly use and love. As a blogger, you often get offers from all types of industries asking you to promote things or try their products. Considering that it really does take a lot of time to start making money as a blogger-type-of-business, it can be very tempting to positively review a product that you don’t really love or care about in exchange for a few hundred dollars.
However, I still only promote products I love. And Ativo Skincare is one of them.
*Disclaimer: this is NOT a paid post. I received a small discount on these products which I will pass on to you also. Use the code BEAUTIGURLZ when shopping Ativo Skincare.
I first tried the Ativo Vanilla & Chai Body Scrub when I received a small jar of it in my first Ellebox (which I reviewed here – Ativo was formerly called Scrubs & Bubbles). I absolutely fell in love with the texture and scent of this scrub. Everyone that has read this blog before or knows me personally knows that I am a product girl, and I love a good body scrub, or cream or anything that feels luxurious. This one definitely fits the bill!
I got in contact with the owner Tracy online to tell her how much I enjoyed the products since I knew that she was based locally. We have both had some similar experiences in our respective businesses, and we connected right away. Our daughters are similar ages, and I just know that she is a good soul, making quality products that solve problems (skin issues). Everything about the company and it’s mission, is good, wholesome and honest.
Later on, I saw some other makeup artists online raving about the Ativo Makeup Brush Cleaner. I have tried numerous different ways to clean my makeup brushes and have never found an easy way to get the little clumps of products that get down inside the brushes. This product is unusual in that it isn’t a spray or a gel, but a harder-type-balm that you swirl the brush into.

This is literally a game changer for makeup brush cleaner – and it contains no harmful ingredients. I will be buying them for my daughters to use too.
After Ativo Skincare created a line of shampoo products, I decided I wanted to order a few to try as my hair had been feeling dry and a bit weak from the winter months. The first two I purchased were Peppermint Teatree Oil & Eucalyptus and Coconut Macadamia along with the Damaged & Dry Hair Conditioner. The shampoos are literally the BEST I have ever tried. You barely need any product and they still foam up nicely with a pleasant smell. My hair didn’t feel weighed down and really had volume afterwards also. The conditioner also worked well. I can’t wait to try some of the others I have recently purchased. I have had trouble with acne on the scalp that spreads when I pick at it – which is gross but somehow seems to happen to me with weather changes – so I am looking forward to using the Dandruff & Dry Scalp Products.
And last, I have also been looking for another Cleansing Balm-type of product to try. I have loved the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm in the past, but the price point isn’t always doable for my wallet. Plus, I do like trying locally made products, especially if I have made a personal connection with the owners. The Ativo Skincare Waterless Beauty Balm is a really nice product and at $42, a great price point as a little bit of product goes a long way. I have used it as a cleanser, by putting it on my wet face and then removing it with a damp cloth.
The other product I haven’t yet tried, but ordered, is the Magnesium Spray. I know that I am deficient in magnesium because I have muscle and leg cramps often. I am looking forward to using this product and hopefully seeing results. Getting magnesium absorbed into your system through the skin is the best way, especially if magnesium supplements bother your tummy (like me).
